Detox From Tobacco

Tobacco addiction is perhaps one of the most underrated addictions. It introduces nicotine and other carcinogens into the body without the person realizing. Over a period of time, as the person continues to indulge in tobacco the levels of toxins keep increasing in the body and tissues and pose a risk of throat cancer, lung cancer and mouth cancer.

Instructions

Detox from Tobacco

1. To remove the toxins from the body, cessation of smoking is a must. Set a date to quit smoking. Setting a date to quit tobacco gives the person something to look forward to. Reward yourself for each tobacco-free day; you can buy a new perfume, go see a movie or buy the latest novel by your favorite author.

2. Remove the nicotine and other carcinogens from the body by eating a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables. Regaining health after stopping tobacco smoking will take time and effort, and it requires a person to learn new lifestyle habits.

3. Avoid milk products and foods that are high in fat and sugar. These foods can cause diarrhea and upset stomach, which are common nicotine withdrawal symptoms, according to Quit Smoking Support System. Instead, consume nuts, seeds and legumes to get the protein your body needs. Eat a high fiber diet to eliminate the toxins and facilitate regular bowel movements. Nicotine in the tobacco tends to weaken the excretory system, and waste removal from the body gets adversely affected. Consume foods that are rich in anti-oxidants and nutrients to aid the tobacco detoxification process.

4. Drink a lot of water to eliminate the toxins via urination and to provide relief to the dry feeling in the throat. Consuming a lot of electrolytes and fluids helps to prevent diarrhea and subsequent dehydration that many people face when giving up tobacco.

5. Strengthen the lungs by doing deep breathing exercises. Smoking tobacco tends to weaken the lungs and damage the lung tissue. Deep breathing exercises will help to remove the residual toxins in the lungs and facilitate healing of the lung tissue.
