How Lengthy Does Darvocet Remain In The Body

How Long Does Darvocet Stay in Your Body?

What is Darvocet?

Darvocet is an opiate that belongs to the drug class known as narcotic analgesics. These medications relieve pain by affecting how the brain perceives pain. They cling to the pain receptors in the brain, reducing the sensation of pain, increasing pain tolerance and alleviating discomfort. Darvocet usually is prescribed to manage arthritis pain after surgery and to relieve other pain conditions. Generally, it is taken orally, once every four hours, in tablet form.

How Long Darvocet Stays in Your Body

Darvocet has a half life of approximately 10 hours, which is the time it takes for your body to metabolize and excrete the medication from your body. The body is considered clean after five half lives. There are several factors that affect the rate of metabolism, such as your age, weight, amount of the drug taken, how frequently the drug is taken and how the drug is taken. Drugs that are injected are in the bloodstream quicker and are metabolized faster than a pill taken orally. People metabolize drugs at a different rate, so the time a drug stays in your system varies from person to person. Based on the average person, Darvocet is no longer detected in your system after approximately 50 hours, or a little over 2 days.

Darvocet Facts

Darvocet can be habit forming. If taken in larger than prescribed doses or more frequently than prescribed, it can lead to dependence and eventually addiction. Darvocet produces both psychological and physical dependence. Alcohol can increase unwanted side affects and should be avoided when taking this medication. Some common side affects are loss of consciousness, fatigue, allergic reactions, dizziness. In some instances, bleeding or bruising can occur. Safety warnings about Darvocet must be respected and should always be taken according to your physicians directions.
