Items To Stop Smoking

When a person decides to quit smoking, he takes an important first step. The desire to quit is an excellent way to start the process, but often some help is needed. There are several quit-smoking products available.

Prescriptions

Prescription stop-smoking drugs include Chantix and Zyban. Some serious side effects have been reported with these, including depression and suicidal thoughts when using Chantix, and dry mouth, appetite changes, insomnia, headaches and anxiety when using Zyban.

Nicotine Patch

A nicotine patch is a small adhesive bandage-like patch that is available over the counter. The patch can help control nicotine cravings for up to 24 hours.

Nicotine Gum

Nicotine gum may help curb cravings for a short time period and is also available without a prescription. Nicotine gum comes in several flavors, and a person can use a piece every one or two hours up to a total of 24 pieces a day.

Nicotine Lozenges

Nicotine lozenges are similar to hard candies and are available over the counter. They are short-lasting and help with cravings and withdrawals. Nicotine lozenges also come in several flavors.

Inhaler

A nicotine inhaler is used by puffing on the device. It offers quick and short relief for cravings and withdrawal symptoms. A big plus for many using the product is that it keeps the hands busy.
