Stop Urges From High Cortisol

Having a high cortisol level can make you have cravings for food when you're not hungry. This can make you gain unwanted weight and can lead to serious health problems. You can become diabetic, develop heart disease and even start to get high cholesterol. You can stop your cravings from high cortisol levels in your body, become healthier and live a longer life.


Instructions


1. Eat nutrient-rich foods. Eat whole grains, beans, vegetables, legumes, fruits, nuts and seeds. Eat smaller meals more frequently, and drink a lot of water. Eating nutrient-rich foods will help stop cravings because your body is getting the nutrients it is craving for.


2. Take nutritional supplements. Your body needs the supplements if you're not getting enough nutrients from a certain food group. Taking supplements will also help control your cravings because your body is getting what it needs.


3. Start to change your attitude. Having a bad attitude about life and daily things can make you develop unwanted stress. This unwanted stress can lead to horrible food cravings. So change the way you think. Think about positive things, and live in the moment. Think about things that can better your life and set goals for yourself.


4. Listen to relaxing music. Relaxing music can lower your stress. Don't listen to depressing songs or violent ones. Listen to ones that make you smile and make you feel calm. Some great kinds of music you can listen to are meditation music, waterfall music, classical music and happy love songs.


5. Start to meditate each night before you go to bed. Go in a quiet room, sit or lay somewhere comfortable. Breath in and breath out for 10 minutes. Relax your whole body, and imagine being somewhere you love and that makes you happy. Think about this place for awhile and count slowly to 100. Then imagine the sun warming your skin and smelling beautiful flowers. Do this for 10 minutes and then get up.


6. Keep track of the number of hours you sleep each night. Not getting enough sleep can make your stress get higher and your body work harder to take care of itself. You should get seven to eight hours of sleep every night. Take a nap during the day if you feel tired. Getting plenty of rest will help your body heal itself and be calmer.


7. Start to exercise three times each week. Exercise helps lower stress. Lowering your stress will help stop your cravings. Exercise is vital to a healthy body and happiness. When you don't exercise, toxins in your body can't be released as well and get trapped into your fat. These toxins create a stressful environment for your body. Exercising and drinking plenty of water helps the body rid itself of these toxins so you're healthy.
