Eliminate Nicotine In Your Body

Nicotine is the addicting drug found in cigarettes and other forms of tobacco. According to the American Heart Association, nicotine causes a temporary rise in blood pressure and can be harmful to your health. The bad news in flushing nicotine out of your system is that the drug's physical addiction can last for years, beckoning quitters to start smoking again. The good news is that it only takes a few days--depending on your anatomy--to flush nicotine out of your system. Here's get nicotine out of your system before you embark on the successful road to quitting.

1. Drink lots of water. According to Active.com, a normal human is supposed to drink 62 to 72 ounces of water per day. However, you can flush nicotine out of your body much quicker if you drink at least 80 ounces a day for several days.

2. Exercise. In addition to drinking lots of water, exercising is a great way to overhaul your system, cleansing your body and ridding it of impurities--including nicotine--through sweat. Run, jog or play another sport (like tennis) every day to quickly flush out nicotine. If you're out of shape, be careful not to overdo it. Too much too soon can be bad for your lungs and heart.

3. Eat fruit and minimize your diet. The acidity of and vitamins in fruits like oranges, grapefruit and apples can work wonders on a total system cleanse. Additionally, eliminate fast food, junk food and heavy meals for at least a few days. Replace it with crackers, fruit, vegetables and low-calorie foods.

4. Avoid alcohol, sugar and coffee--at least for the first few days during the flushing period. These common items actually slow down the nicotine from exiting the body, and they spark in people a desire to smoke. Stick to water, fruits and minimal food.
