Cost Of Hypnosis To Stop Smoking

The vast majority of cigarette smokers who have tried to quit can attest to the fact that it's an extremely tough habit to break. Nicotine is a highly addictive drug that often requires more than determination and willpower to abandon. Hypnosis may be a safe, effective and reasonable priced way to kick the habit once and for all.

Cheap at Any Price

The most recent figures provided the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention show that despite massive anti-smoking campaigns, more than 45 million people in the U.S. continue to puff away. Smoking-related illnesses claim more than 430,000 lives annually.

When one considers the price of any quit-smoking aid, it's generally far less than the long term cost of continuing to smoke, not to mention future health care costs to treat a variety of smoking-related ailments. Hypnosis has gained popularity as a viable means to quit the habit for good. The general idea of hypnosis is to help you acquire greater control over your behavior, emotions and general well-being.

Hypnosis as an Adjunct Treatment

Sometimes smokers who want to quit may use hypnosis in conjunction with another stop smoking aid. New research suggests that nicotine patches might provide better results if used in combination with hypnosis. The two-prong approach is similar to treating depression with both medication and counseling. The study of 286 participants was conducted at the San Francisco VA Medical Center and the University of California-San Francisco. Researchers noted that hypnosis was especially beneficial for smokers who had a history of depression.

Self Hypnosis

The cost of undergoing hypnosis for smoking cessation can range from a few dollars to several hundred dollars depending on the way in which it is performed. Some companies offer step by step audio, video or printed instructions for self-induced hypnosis. There is typically a flat fee ranging from $12 to more than $100.

Private Sessions with a Therapist

A typical session with a professional hypnotist ranges from 30 minutes to one hour. The cost of each session can range from $40 to $100. The number of sessions varies but can be as few as one or two. Most states do not regulate hypnosis practices so it's important to use caution when choosing a therapist.
