How Obtain The Taste Of Tobacco Smoke Out My Mouth

Fire-safe cigarette paper is reported to leave a copperlike aftertaste.

Cigarette smoke often leaves a bad taste in your mouth that is difficult to get rid of. According to an MSNBC article on fire-safe cigarettes, smokers find that self-extinguishing paper leaves a particularly bad aftertaste. Quitting smoking is the only way to permanently rid your mouth of the taste, but you can get temporary and immediate relief by deploying a few basic dental-hygiene techniques.

1. Stir 2 tbsp. of baking soda into 1 cup of lukewarm water.

2. Rinse your mouth thoroughly with the baking-soda-and-water solution. Swish and gargle the mixture without swallowing for at least 60 seconds. The baking soda absorbs odors and helps remove nicotine residue from your teeth.

3. Spit out the mixture and rinse your mouth out with clean water.

4. Brush your teeth as usual with strong-flavored mint toothpaste.

5. Use mouthwash as directed on the bottle to rinse away any remaining aftertaste.

6. Eat a breath mint to get the cigarette taste out of the back of your mouth and throat.
