The patch is worn on the arm and after each patch is done, you move to another patch with a weaker nicotine level, until you are down to the last week and hopefully smoke-free.

The Gum

Chew nicotine gum whenever you have the urge to have a cigarette. It delivers nicotine directly to the the bloodstream, easing your cravings. While it does help some smokers, it has its own side effects, including the potential to cause birth defects in unborn babies.

The Lozenge

Nicotine lozenges are used to easy the need for nicotine. The "Commit" lozenge dissolves in the mouth. You start with the strongest lozenge the first week and replace it the next week with the next dosage, continuing until you are at the lowest dosage.

The Inhaler

Some people smoke as habit because they need something to do with their hands. The nicotine inhaler gives the you a small hit of nicotine and acts like a cigarette. There are different strengths of inhalers, which will help the person quit smoking. Some companies will offer non-nicotine cartridges for the inhaler to keep the hands busy even after you quit smoking.

The Nasal Spray

Nasal spray is effective for some people, but if you have sinus problems and a strong smoking habit, the nasal spray may not work. This spray is for light smokers who need a little help to stop smoking. The spray is inhaled through the nose and sends the nicotine to the body, relieving the need for a cigarette.

You can smoke while taking it because it makes you feel ill and put out your cigarette.
