Get Nicotine From Vinyl

Smoking inside a home can cause nicotine stains to vinyl objects.

Smoking inside of your home means the smell of cigarette smoke can latch onto clothes, upholstered furniture, carpets, curtains, and even your pet fur. Nicotine itself can cling to areas of your home, creating stubborn, sticky stains and discoloration that are hard to remove. For example, when it comes to things like vinyl wallpaper, paneling, tablecloths, blinds and flooring, nicotine stains can be quite apparent. These stains can be removed.

Instructions

1. Fill a bucket with approximately 1 gallon of warm water. Add 1/2 cup white vinegar. Add four drops of dish washing liquid and swish the entire mixture around with your hand to blend all the ingredients.

2. Dip your sponge or scrub brush in the mixture and shake out the excess drops. Scrub the nicotine stained area vigorously. If you're scrubbing vinyl blinds, remove them from the windows first, to make cleaning easier. Scrub vinyl blinds energetically, but be careful not to bend them.

3. Scrub until all the nicotine is completely gone. Dampen a paper towel or soft cloth with clean warm water and wipe down the affected areas to remove the residue of cleaning products.
