Take Triptans For Migraines

Though the constricting of the blood vessels can be a bad thing, migraine sufferers need their blood vessels to be narrower in order to alleviate debilitating pain. Nicotine and caffeine both cause blood vessels to constrict; however, nicotine is believed to promote certain types of cancer, and caffeine triggers headaches in a large number of people. Given the risks associated with caffeine and nicotine, it is best to stick to triptan drugs to constrict your blood vessels when fighting off a migraine.

Instructions

1. Immediately take your triptan prescription to your local pharmacy, as you want to be prepared at the onset of your next migraine.

2. Store the triptan tablets in your medicine cabinet or drawer until you feel the symptoms of a migraine.

3. Take a triptan tablet with a glass of water as soon as you start to feel the symptoms of a migraine. Always follow the dosage directions on the box. For triptans such as AXERT and FROVA, take one pill at the onset of the migraine. You can take one more pill two hours later if you are still experiencing migraine symptoms.
