Remove Nicotine Stains From Fabric

If you are a smoker, live with someone who smokes or have visited a venue where smoking occurred, there's a good chance your clothes have nicotine stains. Other fabrics such as linens and curtains may also get stained within the home. Nicotine and smoke easily penetrate fabric, making for a lasting odor and stain if it isn't treated. Use a few common household items to remove nicotine stains.

Instructions

1. Add a 1/2 tsp. of liquid laundry detergent to 1 qt. of warm water in a bucket.

2. Soak the fabric in the detergent solution for 15 minutes, allowing the detergent to penetrate and work into the cloth.

3. Remove the fabric from the water and detergent. Ring out excess water.

4. Apply a small amount of rubbing alcohol to a sponge. Blot the nicotine stain with the rubbing alcohol until it is completely removed.

5. Wash the cloth as usual.
