Get Tobacco Smoke Smell From Wood

Get Cigarette Smoke Smell Out of Wood

Cigarette smell has a way of lingering upon every surface it touches. While fabric is perhaps the worst for trapping in odors, cigarette smoke doesn't discriminate and can cling to just about anything. If someone has made it a habit to smoke indoors, all furniture in the home will carry the smell. Removing that cigarette smell from wood may seem like a daunting task, but it really isn't as difficult as one may think.

Instructions

Several Simple Suggestions

1. Mix a weak solution of one part bleach to three parts water and wipe the wood down with a clean cloth. Be careful not to saturate the wood and wipe it dry with a clean soft cloth.

2. Place baking soda or fresh coffee grounds in a dish and set them in the drawer of wood furniture to help absorb odors.

3. Wipe down wood with a weak solution of ammonia and water. Use ¼ cup ammonia for a gallon of warm water. Wipe the wood dry with a soft clean cloth.

4. Set a cloth soaked in vinegar on a piece of plastic on or near the wood. The vinegar will help to eliminate the smell.

5. Take wood furniture and set it outside to air out. This works even better in conjunction with wiping it down with bleach or ammonia first. The fresh air will help to get rid of the odor.
