Clean The Nicotine From Yellowed Walls

Nicotine from cigarettes leaves a film on surfaces.

Cigarettes contain an ingredient known as nicotine. A cigarette releases nicotine when the cigarette is smoked. The smoke does not just disappear in the air around you. It clings to everything it is exposed to, including your walls. After awhile, you may notice your walls coated with a yellowish-brown film. This is the nicotine. It is important to clean your walls and remove the nicotine as soon as possible to prevent further buildup.

Instructions

1. Measure out 1/2 cup of ammonia and place it in an empty spray bottle.

2. Pour 1/2 cup of vinegar along with 1 tbsp. of dish soap in the spray bottle.

3. Stir or shake the spray bottle to combine its ingredients. Squirt generously over the yellowed walls.

4. Wait one full minute before wiping the walls with a sponge. The ingredients must have time to eat away at the nicotine. It is best to clean the wall from the top downward, wiping in a circular motion.

5. Fill a bucket with warm water. Dip a clean sponge in the bucket, wring it out and wipe the walls down a second time. This will remove any leftover nicotine and dish soap residue.
