Instructions


1. Drink a full 8-ounce glass of warm water when you wake up in the morning. You can have it ready by your bedside the night before. That will ensure the water is at room temperature when you drink it in the morning. Warm water has a healthier, more soothing effect on your entire body. Drinking cold water or something hot like coffee or tea can shock your digestive system. Choosing warm or room temperature water will start off your 72-hour detox just right.


2. Drink plenty of water. The first day of your 72-hour detox, you can have only water. You will need to drink at least eight glasses of water every day during your 72-hour detox. You can continue this healthy habit after your 72-hour detox as well. Drinking water throughout the day will help keep you hydrated. It will also keep you from drinking unhealthier choices such as coffee, soda and juices. You can add a squeeze of lemon juice to your water for a little flavor if you want to.


3. Eat meals with fruits, vegetables and grains. This is for the second and third day. You will need to eat four servings of fruits and vegetables or two servings of each per day. You will also need to eat one cup of whole grains with each meal. Keep the fruits and vegetables raw in order to get the most nutrients out of them as possible. Remember that fruit juice also counts as a serving of fruit. Try V-8 Splash for a servings of fruits and vegetables. Drink 8 ounces for one serving. For whole grains, you can have brown rice, 100 percent whole grain cereal, bread and pasta.


4. Relax during your 72-hour detox. Take relaxing walks for about 30 minutes. Drink herbal tea (decaffeinated) at bedtime and take a few minutes of quiet to enjoy it. Try meditation and yoga for a healthy and soothing relaxation for the mind and body. Start writing in a journal to vent your thoughts and emotions. When your 72-hour body detox is over, think about the relaxing exercises you enjoyed the most and incorporate them into your daily life for a healthy lifestyle change.


5. Avoid unhealthy lifestyle choices. Stay away from alcohol, sugar, salt, caffeine, preservatives, meats, milk, eggs, cheeses and chocolate. The only foods you should be eating during your 72-hour detox are fruits, vegetables and grains. This is a perfect time to stop smoking, too.
