Make Cartomizer Juice

Smoking is less and less tolerated in public places, making electronic cigarettes more desirable.

A cartomizer is a development in e-cigarette technology that allows the smoker to dispose of the cart that holds the e-liquid, and the atomizer, which heats the liquid, in one unit. Previously, users had to clean these items, which was labor intensive and diminished the convenience of the e-cigarette relative to traditional cigarettes. Cartomizers are a few dollars apiece and can last a few weeks. Some are pre-filled with juice, but empty units are available to fill with your own, homemade juice. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Instructions

1. Use a measured syringe that can hold at least 1ml and purchase small bottles or other receptacles. You may use an empty liquid capsule from an e-cigarette if you are making a very small batch to simply refill a cartomizer. Once you determine how large your batch will be, you can adjust your initial ingredients to meet your needs.

2. Determine what flavor you wish to create. In smaller batches, you will be able to experiment and try more flavors. Manufacturers create liquids in flavors which can be as sweet or as savory as your imagination. Be sure to note whether the flavoring contains nicotine and what percentage, if it does. Some will have no nicotine while other varieties have up to 48mg, which is extremely high.

3. Determine the amount of vapor you want. Vapor, or exhaled smoke, content will be determined by whether you use vegetable glycerine (VG) or propylene glycol (PG.) Vapor is also contingent on the amount of water you use, the more water creating less vapor. When you are starting out mixing your own cartomizer juices, you will likely need to experiment with flavor, vapor and nicotine content. Remember that nicotine is a poison, so be very careful with that substance.

4. Mix a nicotine-free solution with these levels: 15 percent water, 15 percent flavoring and 70 percent vegetable glycerine or propylene glycol. For nicotine users, the percentages are: 10 percent water, 10 percent flavoring, 60 percent vegetable glycerine or propylene glycol and 20 percent nicotine liquid. Increase the nicotine to 30 percent if it's already mixed with a flavoring.
