Remove Nicotene Smells

Remove nicotine odor with baking soda.

If you have smokers in your home, nicotine and cigarette odor can take over the entire house. The odors accumulate most in areas where smokers spend most of their time. It's important to have a regular cleaning routine to rid smoke and nicotine odors from heavily used areas in your home. The frequency with which rooms need cleaning depends on both the number of smokers in the home and how often they smoke.

Instructions

1. Open the windows during warm months and let the room air out to reduce the smell of stale smoke. Leave the windows open for a day or so until you notice no remaining odor.

2. Fill several bowls with about 1/2 cup each baking soda. The baking soda is a natural odor absorber that will collect the stale smell. Depending on the strength of the odor, it may take up to a few days for the odor to dissipate.

3. Pour 1/2 cup each of vinegar and lemon juice into several bowls and place throughout the bedroom. Alternatively, place two bowls with the baking soda and fill two different bowls with the vinegar and lemon juice mixture. Either combination works as an odor absorber, and the lemon juice will emits a citrus scent.

4. Fill a spray bottle with equal parts white vinegar and lemon juice and mist around the bedroom as you would an air freshener.

5. Implement a no smoking rule in your home, asking smokers to go outdoors instead of smoking in the house.
